Each time we visit Germany’s famed Nürburgring, we earn more and more respect for the aptly named “Green Hell” — its north loop is narrow, 12.5 miles long and it has an insane 154 turns! Known for its varied terrain and challenging design, racers use it for training, automakers use it for testing, and amateurs run it for fun. Well, most of the time it is fun.

And that little preamble brings us to this YouTube video…

Shot on May 10, 2010, from the just behind the driver’s right ear, we find ourselves on the North Loop just past the Caracciola Karussell (the “Carousel”) doing what amateurs do best… drive cautiously. While the gentleman in our camera platform isn’t driving 10/10ths, the Type 997 GT3 that passes him on the outside of a corner to his left is… and that is where talent and physics collide with disastrous results.

Remember kids, always brake before the corner, never lift just after the apex and if the back end of a 911 starts to come around… floor it!
